Using renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint is important for the health of the planet. Graves Brothers Home Improvement is doing our part by offering solar panel roofs to our customers in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
How Does a Solar-Panel Roof Work?
A solar panel roof is integrated into your new roof installation. Solar panels are made of photovoltaic cells, which convert sunlight into electricity. The electricity that is created is DC (direct current), so it will need to go through an inverter in your home to convert it to AC (alternating current). Our homes and appliances run on AC electricity.
Your solar panel roof will be tied to your utility grid. If you generate more energy than you need to run your home, it can be sent back to the utility grid for other customers --- and you may receive a credit for the extra electricity you sent.
How Does Solar Compare to Other Types of Energy?
There are certainly a variety of types of renewable energy resources, but for the purpose of providing energy for the home, solar is the most convenient and economical. Hydropower or wind power may be more efficient, but finding ways to use these to power a home would not be nearly as easy or affordable as solar panels.
Can I Afford Solar Energy?
A new solar roof is an investment in the future. Not only economically, as you'll make the money back in utility savings, but also as you invest in the future of the planet by reducing your use of fossil fuels.
If you need to finance your roof, give us a call and ask about our custom finance plans. You can also apply for a home equity loan or home equity line of credit through your financial institution. Ask us about tax credits or rebates that may help lower your out-of-pocket costs.
